The park served as a launching ground for conservation and Maasai pastoralists have been on the endless plains for 2000 years. The park covers 14,763 square kms of grassland plains, savanna, riverine forests, and woodlands. The Serengeti\u2019s Northern area is continuous with the Kenyan border and the Masai Mara Game Reserve.<\/p>\n
The park is usually divided into 3 regions: The first is Serengeti plains, the endless almost treeless grassland of the South is the most emblematic scenery of the park. This is where the wildebeest breed, as they remain in the plains from December to May. Other hoofed animals (ungulates) in large numbers come to join the calving season. Kopjes are granite florations, which are very common in the region and are great observation posts for predators.
\nThe second region is Western corridor, has a black clay soil that covers most of the savannah region here. The Grumeti river is home to the migration that passes during May to July.<\/p>\n
