Namibia
Namibia is a land sculpted by wind, light, and time itself. From the towering dunes of Sossusvlei glowing at sunrise to the rugged canyons and desert plains where oryx roam, it’s Africa at its most elemental. The vastness here humbles and frees you — endless horizons, star-filled nights, and a stillness that feels sacred. In Namibia, every journey is a conversation between sand, sky, and soul.

Namibia is a country with extreme and varying characteristics. It is home to the Sossusvlei with it 300 m. high dunes and the second deepest canyon in the world, unique geological features and beautiful historic towns. Also located in Namibia is the Namib Desert, the wettest desert in the world. The Namib Desert receives its moisture from the mist floating over the desert from the Atlantic Ocean.

Unique safaris in Namibia
Highlights
Namibia has a wide variety of parks and wildlife sanctuaries, each with different ecosystems and wildlife. Namibia is known for its panoramic views of the dunes, but also for its unique wildlife. Below are a number of parks which you can add to your safari in Namibia. A beautiful safari depends on the choice and sequence of parks. That is our strength, so email or call us for advice or a personal travel plan.
Sossusvlei is a valley of clay soil in the middle of the Namib Desert. The images with the intense red and yellow dunes and crisp lines are a source of inspiration for any photographer. The red color of the sand is caused by the high concentration of iron. Sossusvlei is part of the Namib Desert, the oldest desert in the world bordering the Atlantic Ocean from Swakopmund & Walvisbay southward until Lüderitz. The Namib Desert is about 80 million years old. The park covers an area of 50,000 km2 and is one of the largest national parks in Africa.
Activities
Safaris are available in all shapes and sizes. Wild Times would like you to enjoy an authentic safari experience. Therefore, our preference goes to small-scale accommodation and game drives in open Land Cruisers or Land Rovers. Apart from great itineraries, it is also possible to include the following activities to your safari in Namibia.
Night drives in Namibia are available on privately operated reserves, concessions and guest farms and in Etosha National Park. Night drives are nice for seeing more unusual nocturnal species and since predators hunt at night a night game drive is something special.
Hotel & Lodges
We strive to offer our customers small-scale lodges and camps. A beautiful safari often depends on the right choice and order of accommodation. Wild Times designs itineraries based on authentic and remote lodges between 3* and 5* ratings. Because of our long-term relationships with African partners our prices are equal or lower priced compared to the prices you could arrange directly. Because we have visited all the lodges and camps we offer, we know which ones suit your needs best within each price category. Below you will find a small selection of our African accommodation.
Best time to travel
Namibia can be visited throughout the year. The climate is generally dry and pleasant. Namibia is exposed to only a fraction of the rain experienced by countries further east. Between December to March, some days will be humid and rain may follow, often in localized, afternoon thunderstorms. Wildlife viewing in all parks, but especially in Etosha, is best in the dry season from June to October. In the wet season, animals move away from the waterholes and scatter around the park.
