Description
Animals that are common in the Kalahari Desert are: gemsbok, springbok, wildebeest, eland and red hartebeest. They are always looking for better pastures to graze and are closely followed by lions, cheetahs and leopards. Another famous inhabitant of the Kalahari is the meerkat.
The best time to see the migration of wildebeest, zebra and springbok is between December and May. At that time of the year, heavy thunderstorms come across the desert, which provides much needed cooling.
Safaris in the Kalahari Desert are varied. You can follow the migration, go hunting with the Bush men, or go on safari. For the adventurer, there is the more exciting option to cross the desert with a private 4×4 and go camping in the wilderness.
