The Mekong Delta covers almost the entire area southwest of Ho Chi Minh City. The Delta consists of large rivers with hundreds of branches, including the latter part of the 4200-kilometer Mekong River, which originates in Tibet. In the Mekong Delta life is concentrated around its fertile water. Houses are built among or on the water as locals are about busy their daily business.
An ideal way to discover the Mekong Delta is to do so by boat. You will sail past floating markets and visit local villages along the way and walk through the beautiful rice paddies surrounding the Mekong Delta. All in all a great experience.
