Description
Maasai tribesmen have traditional grazing rights here and be seen in their distinctive clothing, taking care of their cattle herds.
The animals are not stuck in the crater and constantly migrate through the area, but because of the fertility of the crater and the permanent presence of water, they always stay in the crater. This makes the Ngorongoro Crater ideal for spotting wildlife. You will find large lion populations and some of the last remaining rhinos in Tanzania.
The lake is also home to large flocks of flamingos, a remarkable and unforgettable sight. The whole crater has a unique, almost magical atmosphere and is a must-see while on safari in Tanzania.
