Description
The longest migration of animals in the whole of Southern Africa. Afrika. When the dry desert longs for rain in the Makgadikgadi Park and the first rains hit the ground in the saltpans, thousands of zebra start their journey across this bizar landscape. The grass sprouts due to the rain and lures the animals to the Nxai Pan, which soon becomes an area where the zebra bear their foals. The herds then continue their path to the Boteti river, where they will graze until the winter months of the Southern halfhemisphere has passed. Not just the thousands of zebra form a thoroughly enjoyable sight for the eyes, the majestic Baines’ baobab trees join in. And next to that… predators also come in to the area to join in on some action.
Highlights of this safari:
- migration of thousands of zebra

This park covers an impressive 4900 sq meter area and contains many natural wonders, such as the biggest tree in Africa: a 5300 year old baobab. Big herds of wildebeest and zebra come for the water and those are followed by lions, hyena and cheetah.
Go on a game drive, watch the stunning birds, discover the saltpans on a quad, visit a local village or go on an excursion with San people and learn more about their ways and traditions.
Day 2 Makgadikgadi Pans National Park
Game drives and / or other activities of your choice in Makgadikgadi Pans National Park.
Day 3 Makgadikgadi Pans to Nxai Pan
Just like the Makgadikgadi saltpans, this area was once a salt lake too. Now they are oceans with little islands of trees and smaller saltpans that are filled with water. On several of these little islands the largest famous Baines Baobabs stand. Already in the year of 1860 explorer Baines drew the first drawings of the trees. The trees have changed little in the years thereafter.
Today you will be transfered to the Nxai Pan.
Day 4 Nxai Pan
Enjoy a game drive!
Day 5 Nxai Pan to Khwai / Moremi area
Fly to the Moremi, an area teaming with wildlife. This area is part of the Okavango Delta.
The area is unfenced and thus the game can go freely in out of the area. In the dry season this means that the animals can access the water and in the wet season they will go back to the forest areas. Enjoy a night game drive too or do an exciting walking safari where you will learn more about the smaller animals.
Day 6 Khwai / Moremi area
