Program & Route:
Day 1 – Johannesburg
On arrival in Johannesburg, you will be met and assisted to your hotel for the night.
Day 2-4: Sabi Sands Private Game Reserve
Today collect your rental car and make your way to Sabi Sands Game Reserve. You will spend the next three nights here.
It is a destination that will truly touch your heart and soul.
The Sabi Sands is South Africa’s premier private game viewing destination. It was here that the southern African safari began and today this famous reserve offers exceptional game viewing and equally exceptional accommodations.
Your days at Sabi Sands will be very special you can choose from a wide variety of activities including morning and afternoon game drives, daily bush walks, 3 daily meals, and spend the evenings unwinding in the boma near a blazing fire.
Day 5: Lowveld
Today make your way to the Lowveld
The Lowveld is the region below the Drakensberg Escarpment renowned for its sub-tropical climate, excellent farming areas and the Kruger National Park.
Surrounded by the lush forests of the Mpumalanga province, White River is excellently located to explore the Lowveld. The area is well known, not only for its superb temperate sub-tropical climate in summer, as well as winter, but also for its many scenic and adventurous attractions.
Day 6: Swaziland
After breakfast, make your way to Swaziland.
Day 7-8: Greater St Lucia National Park
After breakfast, make your way to St Lucia.
Set around South Africa’s largest estuarine system, Lake St Lucia and the undisturbed coastline that runs for 200kms from the mouth of the estuary to the Mozambique border. This world heritage site is home to an incredibly rich array of wildlife, including large numbers of hippos, crocodiles, rhino, elephant and buffalo.
You can do game drives in the park, but there are also two cultural tours on offer through St. Lucia Town and the second, to Veyane Cultural Village.
Day 9: Durban
After breakfast, drive through to Durban.
With its beautiful beaches, lively wining and dining scene, and rich cultural heritage, Durban is KwaZulu Natal’s tourist hub. The swimming and surfing is rated the best of any major city across the world and because of the sub-tropical climate the water is warm all year round.
There are a great deal of activities to partake in and around including spa’s, biking or a visit to one of South Africa’s best known casinos.
Day 10-12: Amakhala Game Reserve
Today drive to Durban Airport, in time to connect with a local flight to Port Elizabeth.
Amakhala Game Reserve is renowned for its truly awesome topography, carved over the millennia by the waters of the Bushman’s River. Aside from the much sought after Big 5 there are over 16 antelope species, zebra, giraffe and a multitude of smaller creatures. Guided by experienced rangers, you can return to nature, exploring the diverse wildlife and the rugged landscapes of the Eastern Cape valley and bushveld.
Day 13-14: Garden Route
After breakfast, start exploring the Garden Route.
With its great beaches along a narrow strip of fertile land nestled between majestic mountains and the big blue Indian Ocean the Garden Route is one of South Africa’s premier holiday destinations.
Day 15: Garden Route
After breakfast, make your way along the Garden Route again.
Popular activities in the region are visiting the Featherbed Nature Reserve, doing the highest bungee jump in the world, golfing and visiting the Cango Caves, Oudtshoorn’s Ostriches and the famous wineries of Calitzdorp.
Day 16: Overberg
After breakfast, make way to Swellendam.
The Overberg region extends from the Hottentots Holland Mountains, east of Cape Town, to the start of the Garden Route around George. The area is characterised by fertile farmlands, a series of mountain ranges, tremendous plant diversity (including the unique fynbos) and a rocky coastline that makes it a haven for outdoor activities such as scenic walks, visiting Swellendam and Barrydale or drive to the De Hoop National Reserve. Other popular activities are wine tasting, canoeing and hiking.
Day 17-18: Cape Winelands
After breakfast, make your way to the Winelands.
A mere one hour drive from Cape Town lie the valleys and mountains which have become synonymous with some of the world finest wines. Spectacular mountain scenery, fine hotels and guest houses, 300 years of wine making history and many of the country’s top restaurants combine to make the Cape Winelands into a much desired destination.
Stellenbosch is the heart of the wine lands offering a number of creative game viewing and wildlife opportunities. An exciting range of wild life rehabilitation programmes ranging from cheetahs and lion viewing to butterflies and birds of prey are all within half an hour drive of any of the winelands towns.
Stellenbosch is home to a number of great theatre opportunities for visitors. A vibrant cultural offering ranges from worlds class operatic performances at the Oude Libertas to intimate one man shows at the Dorp street Theatre café.
Day 19-20: Cape Town
Cape Town is one of the world’s most beautiful cities and a top international destination. This unique city with its fascinating history, interesting culture, natural beauty, award winning wines and laidback lifestyle will be an experience not easily forgotten.
Popular activities are a visit to Robben Island, spending time at the Waterfront area, going to the top of the Table Mountain, doing a boat cruise or visit the pinguins at Boulder beach.
Day 21: Cape Town departure
Today make your way to Cape Town Airport, in time to drop off your rental car and connect with your homeward bound flight.
