Tarangire National Park is one of the smaller national parks in Tanzania. The name of the park originates from the Tarangire river that crosses through the park, being the only source of water for wild animals during the dry season. The park is famous for its huge numbers of elephants, baobab trees, and climbing African pythons. It lies southeast of Lake Manyara and covers an area of approx 2,850 square kms.
